Kelsey received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing Lincoln Division in 2011. She received her Master of Science at the University of Texas at the Arlington College of Nursing in 2015. She has over five years of experience as an acute care nurse practitioner and five years of experience as an RN in the CV-ICU setting.

She is a member of the American Nephrology Nurses Association, a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and a member of the American Association of Critical Care.
